Religion and Morality Are Liked to Freedom
Posted on Thursday, November 13th, 2008 at 6:50 pmAs our second President of the United States and signer of the Declaration of Independence, as well as many other amazing accomplishments in the forming of our young country, John Adams is one of many qualified individuals to speak on behalf of our country and what makes it free. He stated on June 21, 1776,
“Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspiried into our people in a greater measure, than they have it now, they may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting liberty.”
